This was an attempt to capture the attitude, self-confidence, swagger, and feeling of invincibility exhibited by WW II fighter pilots. The image was created from an actual black-and-white snapshot taken of the artist's father. He is straddling the cowling of his P-51 Mustang's 1,450 horse power, super-charged, 12-cylinder, Packard-Merlin engine.
